Public Rooms

The Sitting Room and Dining Room are the two public rooms at Hawthorn House B & b.

Information about both can be found on this page

The Sitting Room

Our lovely big Sitting Room has windows on three sides.

The front looks out over Luce Bay to the Mull of Galloway. The side overlooking fields as far as the eye can see. The back a slightly shorter view of the farmland.

Stretch out and relax on one of the large comfy leather chairs or sofa's.

Read some of the local magazines or one of the many books about the area you'll find around the house.

You can watch the large HD Sky TV, or simply just sit and stare out of the window.

We do this a lot!

Great for all Seasons!

In the summer this room is bathed in afternoon sunshine but with the lovely big windows and gentle sea breeze it's a perfect place to relax.

In the cooler seasons with the gas fire and the skirting heating it is a warm and cozy haven from the sometimes blustery weather outside.

Of course there are binoculars and a bird book for identification.

Pets are welcome in this room.

Dining Room

After a comfortable night's sleep, come down at a time that suits you to your freshly prepared Full Scottish Breakfast.

Sit at our large family dining table, on chairs with hand embroidered seats.
Use the family silver, crystal, china and table linen.

The view from this room is glorious!
In the spring and summer you can watch the Gannets diving.
In the winter seals can sometimes be seen bobbing around in the swell.
Very, very occasionally an otter might appear.

As in most rooms there are binoculars for guests to use.

We do ask guests to make their breakfast choices and timings before they retire to ensure that we can freshly prepare their meal.
